Dr. Jehangir Rao

aka “Dr. J”

I don’t know about you, but I’m frustrated that Western medicine still hasn’t found a cure for chronic stomach problems…

That frustration fueled my interest in the connection between gut health and one’s overall well-being. That’s how I became the first gastrointestinal doctor (GI) in the world to complete the training program at the Institute for Functional Medicine.

Functional Medicine shines when dealing with digestive problems like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disorder (GERD); it’s a holistic approach that considers the body as one system rather than different parts.

While it’s common in Western Medicine to treat your gut issues in isolation, Functional Medicine recognizes it’s important not just to treat your gut but also to take care of your diet and stress levels because they all affect each other!

With over 35 years of practice experience in the States as a gastroenterologist, I’ve seen it all. So many of the patients who came to me had been through multiple colonoscopies and endoscopies that turned out to be normal, but they were still feeling sick.

They were then sent home with instructions to take Metamucil. I’ve also been the physician of last resort after patients bounced from specialist to specialist with unresolved chronic issues. Some had even been told, “it’s all in your head” and sent home with a prescription for Prozac or Zoloft.

The truth is IBS and GERD are a headache for other physicians; it takes a lot of time, specialized knowledge, and patience. But I love it.

Yet I’m still shocked…

With all the remarkable medical advances we’ve seen over the past two decades, Western medicine remains stuck in the Dark Ages, offering nothing new to sufferers of IBS and GERD.

My goal is to help my patients find relief from chronic stomach and bowel conditions through an integrative approach that includes diet, mind/body medicine, exercise, sleep hygiene, and even dealing with grief and loss.

Being a holistic physician is the most meaningful work I’ve ever found: to help my patients regain a sense of hope and empowerment, no matter how long they’ve been suffering.

So, if you’re still suffering from chronic gut problems, chances are, I can help.

But there’s only one way to find out. I invite you to schedule a complimentary “gut health check-up” session during which you’ll discover how you can take back control of your life.
